February Message From HCS’ President Ernie Sherman
The world is definitively going mobile. ROGERS recently announced its one number program designed to offer a person a single number no matter if he is at home or on the road.
Mobile is becoming a way of life both personally and professionally. And for some of us, the lines between our personal and professional lives are blurring. More of our clients are now talking to us about how to manage personal cell phones, iPads and smartphones in the work environment. It is a challenge for many to come up with the best way to allow employees the freedom to use the mobile devices they like while maintaining the security and confidentiality of corporate data.
There are three options you can take:
- Only use approved corporate mobile phones and allow no personal information or social networking apps
- Have a free-for-all and let employees do what they want
- Figure out a way to blend personal mobile devices with the corporate network.
It is definitely a challenge, something our team at Harris has discussed at length. We believe we are close to having a solution that will help our clients manage corporate emails, wireless access and business applications while allowing employees to use their favorite iPhones, BlackBerrys or other mobile devices.
We are shooting to have something ready for everyone to take advantage of by April 1. Stay tuned.
